The 16th edition of Cultural eXchanges is taking place Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March 2017 at De Montfort University, Leicester
The festival is organised by Year 3 students on the Arts and Festivals Management Degree course at DMU. There will be a host of major figures from the arts and creative industries joining us for a week of talks, performances and exhibitions.
Some of the highlights include:
Monday 27th February 6-7pm
A talk by the celebrated designer Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of the globally acclaimed fashion label Red or Dead in the 80’s and founder of Hemingway Design, a multi-award winning creative agency which specialises in affordable and social design.
Tuesday 28th February 4-5pm
A motivational interview with Kanya King. Entrepreneur and founder of the acclaimed MOBO awards, Kanya King is one of the most powerful people in the music industry.
Wednesday 1st March 3.30-4.30pm
Representatives from the Leicester Arts Festivals network will share the work of the consortium and the value it places on partnership working intended to maximise the development and impact of arts festivals in the city.
Thursday 2nd March 5-6pm
Leicester born best-selling author Nina Stibbe ‘In Conversation’about her career. Her book ‘Love Nina’ ‘was recently adapted by Nick Hornby and serialised on BBC TV, starring Helena Bonham-Carter.
Friday 3rd March 6-7.30pm
An Evening with Martin Bell OBE, one of the best-known and most highly regarded names in British television journalism. In 1997 Martin went on to become the first independent MP to be elected to Parliament since 1950 and is currently UNICEF UK Goodwill Ambassador for Humanitarian Emergencies.
